Rachel a 26 year old full time mum from London amazed the judges at her X Factor audition with her silky smooth rendition of the Amy Winehouse song "No Good".
At the end of the audition Rachel apologies for being nervous and went on to explain to the judges about the difficulties she had experienced in her life. After openly admitting to using drugs and spending time in prison, Rachel explained that singing was now an important part of her life and she is effectively a changed person.
The X Factor judges, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue were in no doubt as to the quality of Rachel Hylton's singing and awarded her the much sought after 4 yes votes.
Simon Cowell commented "My Favourite Audition so far"
Cheryl Cole added that she thought Rachel was "Outstanding"
At boot camp Rachel sang "Chasing Cars" the popular Snow Patrol song and got a further 4 positive comments from the X Factor judges, although Simon Cowell commented that Rachel needs in future to nail the song arrangement better.
04.10.08 update Rachel has now made it through to the judges houses stage of the competition and will be mentored by Dannii Minogue.
